The National Park Service (NPS) is offering 7 special days in 2025 that are fee-free! This means all National Parks Service sites that charge an entrance fee will have free admission for everyone on these dates. These dates are national holidays, observances, or celebrations of the National Park Service. National Park Week is April 19, 2025 to April 27, 2025 this year. Entrance fees are waived on April 19, 2025 to kick off the weeklong celebration.

But these free entrance days include more than just well-known national parks. They include the over 400 national parks, historic sites, public lands, and monuments maintained by the National Park Service. What’s Not Included in 2025 National Park Free Days

While entrance is free, other fees may still apply. Some national parks charge fees and require reservations in advance for lodging, camping, tours, or timed entry into the park. These fees may still apply, even on free entrance days. Visit Find a Park on the official NPS website to select your destination and see what the specific requirements are ahead of time.

You can get into the national parks for free on special dates. Or anytime with a specialized national park pass if you meet certain requirements set by the National Park Service. Free entrance is for:

National Park Week will run from April 19, 2025 to April 27, 2025 this year. Entrance fees are waived on April 19, 2025 ONLY to kick off the weeklong celebration. Throughout the week the National Park Service will host a variety of free events and activities, but you will still have to pay for entrance into the NPS sites that charge entry fees.

  • January 20: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • April 19: First day of National Park Week
  • June 19: Juneteenth National Independence Day
  • August 4: Anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act
  • September 27: National Public Lands Day
  • November 11: Veterans Day

Free entry into US national parks in 2025 can happen two ways:
1) On specific fee-free dates set by the National Park Service
